World of wonders

Discover a world of wonders for your little ones in the Schaffhausen Area! Our vibrant community of childcare and playgroups is here to nurture, educate, and inspire your child's development.

Childcare

The Coordination Office for Child and Youth Care coordinates the existing private, municipal, and cantonal childcare facilities in the city of Schaffhausen and serves as a contact point for associations and initiatives that wish to get involved in this area. The ZWEIDIHEI Childcare Advisory and Placement Service provides information and guidance on childcare options in the Schaffhausen region, as well as the placement of daily, weekly, emergency, and long-term care in families and institutions.

Babysitter

Take a short break! Teenagers aged 13 and older who have completed special courses with the Red Cross Schaffhausen are available for assignments – whether for a few hours or entire days – for a reasonable compensation.

Playgroups

In playgroups, children are playfully supported in developing their language and social skills before starting kindergarten. Playgroups typically take place once or twice a week for two to four hours. Check with your local municipality for available offerings.

Parent-Child Gymnastics

Children love to run, jump, and play. In Parent-Child Gymnastics, for children from three years old to kindergarten age, the joy of movement is awakened and nurtured. Children benefit from improved independence, self-confidence, and security. Along the way, friendships are also formed. Children play and move together with their parents: fun for both young and old.

Family Center

The Family Center at Kirchhofplatz in Schaffhausen is an offering by the city of Schaffhausen. It is a place where all parents with preschool-aged children, as well as other caregivers of children, such as grandparents, can meet and exchange ideas. The main target group is families with babies and toddlers aged 0 to 5 years. In the open meeting point with a bistro and play area, mothers and fathers have the opportunity to make connections, exchange ideas, and discuss questions while the children play together.

The Mothers' and Fathers' Advisory Service also provides a contact point for questions about toddler development. Additionally, courses, events, and individual offerings from various service providers are held in the Family Center's rooms.
