Swiss Food Competence in the "Knorri Park" by Unilever

December 18, 2024

12,000 m² of infrastructure are available in Unilever Switzerland's new Food Hub in Thayngen for emerging businesses—offering a central location combined with extensive expertise in food production. A unique opportunity to boost food-tech competence across the entire region.

For over 100 years, food products have been manufactured under the Knorr name in Thayngen, located in the Canton of Schaffhausen. Known globally as part of the Unilever Group, Knorr has built its reputation on innovative product ideas such as instant soups and Aromat, which are still produced in Thayngen today. As part of the new "local4local" strategy, production now primarily focuses on products for the Swiss market.

In line with this strategy, Unilever Switzerland is opening its 12,000 m² site to external food companies. Starting in 2025, businesses in the newly established Food Hub will have access to existing infrastructure, including production facilities and cold storage—fostering greater Swiss Food Competence in Thayngen. In addition, companies will benefit from Unilever Switzerland’s extensive expertise in food production and its robust food-tech network.

The offering is compelling: Starting as early as spring 2025, Gastronomics AG will take advantage of the opening of Unilever’s production site. On a 2,600 m² area, the company will produce premium convenience products for the gastronomy sector. Additional companies are expected to follow, creating a vibrant hub for innovation and business opportunities within the food industry. Daniel Lötscher, Plant Manager of Unilever Thayngen, emphasizes the importance of this new strategy, which is also supported by the Economic Promotion Canton of Schaffhausen.
