Schaffhausen becomes more tax attractive as a residential region

February 13, 2022
Schaffhausen offers a lot as a living and working region: great jobs and career opportunities with SMEs and international companies, affordable housing and, above all, great quality of life for the whole family. On February 13, 2022, the Schaffhausen electorate also voted clearly in favour of a tax cut and thus a further increase in the attractiveness of Schaffhausen as a residential region.

With a yes vote of over 70 per cent, the voters of Schaffhausen clearly said yes in mid-February 2022 to a tax cut that will make Schaffhausen even more attractive as a place to live. Thanks to the increase in insurance deductions and the reduction in property tax rates, the economic performance of private households will be strengthened - and the tax level brought into line with neighbouring cantons.

This tax cut comes just weeks after the Schaffhausen Cantonal Council introduced a tax reduction effective January 1, 2022. With these targeted reliefs for natural persons, the Canton of Schaffhausen further strengthens its position as an attractive residential and business location - and shows that life in Schaffhausen offers more.
