Economic Promotion Canton of Schaffhausen

Xylem‘s European HQ has been located in Schaffhausen since 2011 and the decision to establish its base in the Swiss canton was not down to chance: "We evaluated Schaffhausen as a potential location for our business in great detail and compared it with other cantons", Yarkadas highlights. He notes that the fact that it’s a stone’s throw from Zurich’s airport, the quality of life it offers, as well as the support provided by the Economic Promotion Team, made it an easy decision: "Schaffhausen’s Economic Promotion Team really got behind us and provided excellent advice as we planned our move to the area".

Xylem’s European HQ moved into new premises in 2014 and now occupies four floors in the state-of-the-art Urbahn development. The premises are light and airy with a colour scheme unifying spaces and creating a modern workplace environment. That’s seen as incredibly important as all the business functions accommodated in Schaffhausen play a major role in the company’s success: "Whether it’s Human Resources, Supply Chain, Marketing or Finance, all the key disciplines and management staff serving the European market are here, under one roof", Yarkadas outlines.

Today, around 80 people from 20 different countries work at the Schaffhausen site. Many of them value the Canton of Schaffhausen as a family-friendly region with a wide range of leisure activities. It is also very attractive for employees from the Zurich region to work right next to the train station, as many of them would come to work by public transport. “We are all very happy with the Schaffhausen location, partly because it is easy for us to recruit talented employees in Schaffhausen,” emphasizes Yarkadas.
